Robert "Gene" McDonald was 65 when he passed away with cancer at his home in Old Waverly, Texas. He owned and worked for McDonald Logging, a family company founded by his father, Clyde McDonald in the 1940's. He started working when he was 13, and kept going for 52 years. His son, Keith worked beside him for the last 23 years of his life. He was married for 44 years to Ellise Wilson McDonald. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde, and brother-in-law Edgar Peel.
He was survived by his wife, Ellise.
