Dottie Yvonne Beckelheimer, 72, of Battle Creek, Mich., died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 13, 2013, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Logan, WV., on August 17, 1940, the loving daughter of Wilson and Amanda Zella (Workman) Simpkins.

Dottie loved her church and was a very active and faithful member at Life in Christ Ministries of Battle Creek. She enjoyed reading, playing computer games, traveling and going to the beach. Dottie loved spending time with her sister and her entire family.

Dottie married Gene H. Beckelheimer on August 11, 1958, he sadly preceded her in death on March 31, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles W. Beckelheimer in 2008.

Dottie is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Tim) Hammock of Battle Creek, two grandchildren, Shanna Hammock of Florida and Tyler Hammock of Battle Creek, brother, Jim (Loretta) Simpkins; sister, Sandy (David) Scott, and Gene's brothers and sisters, Cora (Hugh) Harris, Betty Scaggs, Dorothy (Dave) Wilson, Sarah (Bill) Smith, Mary (Carroll) Perry, Peggy (Robert) Smith, John (Ruby) Beckelheimer and Anita (Daniel) Miles.

Funeral service to celebrate Dottie's life will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV., with Rev. Wayne Runyon officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, W.Va.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
