Emma’s gravestone shows an 1868 birth, but her actual birth certificate (Birth Certificate #Vol. L, P. 35; Register of Deeds Office, Milwaukee County Courthouse, Milwaukee, WI) states that her birth date was April 16, 1867. In addition, there is an error in both the Marriage Certificate Index for Brides and also the Marriage Certificate Index for Grooms at the Register of Deeds Office in Milwaukee for the date of marriage of Emma and Henry Brotherhood: the Indexes both list the date of marriage as December 25, 1887, when in reality they were married on December 25, 1886 as is stated on their marriage certificate (Marriage Certificate #Vol. 46, P. 203, Register of Deeds Office, Milwaukee County Courthouse). In both the Marriage Certificate Indexes and also on the marriage certificate, Emma’s maiden name is listed incorrectly as “DeHass”.
