He was born Aug. 5, 1910, in Heyburn, the son of William Alfred and Flora Romig Drew. He attended Heyburn schools. John married Elaine Hunt Pike on February 27, 1948, in Burley.
In 1904, John's parents homesteaded in the Emerson area and John farmed in the Heyburn area his entire life. In their retirement years, John and Elaine enjoyed traveling to Quartzsite, Arizona for the winters. He was the oldest living member of the Burley First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Burley; daughter-in-law, Wanda Drew of Heyburn; one sister Mary Harro of Boise; one brother, William (Christine) Drew of Heyburn; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Don Drew and Gayle Pike; one brother, Walter Drew; and one sister, Dorothy Drew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the Burley First Presbyterian Church, 2100 Burton Ave., with the Rev. Doctor John A. Rakestraw officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley. Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main St., Burley, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.
