Agnes had three known sisters, Margaret "Maggie" A. McPherson b. 1868 in New Brunswick, Canada who probably never married and died in Maine in 1896; Mary Jane born 1870 in New Brunswick, Canada and Charlotte "Lottie" E. McPherson born 1875 in New Brunswick who married twice in Maine; Edward Mace in 1899 and Joseph Cain in 1913. Agnes had one known brother James who was born in New Brunswick, Canada in 1879.
In the 1881 census of Lepreau, Charlotte, New Brunswick, Canada all of them are living in the household. Agnes' father was a lumberman.In addition a John McPherson who is age 75 and born in Ireland is also in residence and the probable grandfather of Agnes who was 8 yrs old at the time.
When Agnes married Oscar Straw on 14 Nov 1916 in Portsmouth,Rockingham county NH she was called Agnes F. Hamilton on her marriage record and stated it was her 2nd marriage. [Agnes had married to Charles Sanford Hamilton on 11 Sept 1891 in Campobello, New Brunswick in St. Ann's church by Rev W. H Street, rector.It was a second marriage for Charles and he had 3 sons ages 12, 9 and 6 from his 1st marriage.He gave his residence as Eastport, Maine an she gave hers as Lepreau.
