He attended the public schools in the Strahan community and worked as a farmer in his youth. He was united in marriage with Emily E. Geesaman at Red Oak, Dec. 18, 1919, and the home was established at Villisca.
For 31 years he engaged in the trucking business. In 1953, they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., where he served as a guard at the Lan Air Force Base, and then he was employed by the Cheyenne Country club for seven years until his retirement. In October, 1966, they moved to Emerson, to live near their son.
Mr. Mood was a member o the Villisca Methodist Church, the Villisca American Legion Post No. 251 and World War I Barracks, No. 1406.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Emily; his son, Dr. Melville Moody, Emerson; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Carthwright of Davenport and Mrs. Dora Harris of Clarinda, two granddaughters; one grandson and other relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Wolfe Funeral Home March 14, conducted by the Rev. George S. Snyder.
Interment was in the Villisca cemetery.
