Nell V. James, 81, of Prosperity, Raleigh County, died Feb. 17, 1997, at home after a long illness. She was a retired registered nurse from the Raleigh County Health Department, former co-owner/operator of James Dairy Farm, Prosperity, a member of First Baptist Church, Prosperity, Order of the Eastern Star and Raleigh County Nursing Association, a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Concord College, a received her nursing degree from Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley. Surviving: son, Frank of Louisville, Ky; daughter, Sue O'Neal of Beckley; brother, Frank Dearing Jr. of Prosperity; friend, with whom she made her home, Louise Houchins; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Bill Boblett officiating. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel of Peace, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
