Chuck was born on April 11, 1939 in Manitowoc, son of the late Phillip Charles and Margaret Marie (Krause) Herman. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1957. On March 26, 1965 he married the former Vivian Senkbeill at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Chuck was employed at Weyerhauser as a maintenance mechanic, retiring in1984. He loved his job. Chuck also worked as a mechanic at home and at Frank's Gas Station in Manitowoc when he was young. He fixed all of his vehicles and his children's vehicles. Chuck enjoyed going to rummage sales and auctions. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and going deer hunting for 60 years in the Rhinelander area. Chuck was a former racer of stock cars and was a very enthusiastic fan of racing and also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a proud member of the Manitowoc Gun Club. Most of all, his family was most important to him.
Survivors include his wife and best friend: Vivian Herman; two sons and one daughter-in-law: David Sr. & Kathleen Herman, Scott Herman, all of Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl & Joe Leist, Hopkinsville, KY; six grandchildren: Spc. Seth Leist, PFC Krystall Leist, Erin Herman, Tyler Herman, David Herman Jr., Anna-Marie Herman; one brother and sister-in-law: Phil & Kris Herman, Manitowoc; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Margaret Kasbohm, Manitowoc, Dorothy & Bruce Curtis, Fall River, WI; special family friend: Valerie Buxbaum, Manitowoc; and his dog: Peanuts. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Francis Kasbohm and his close friends: Howie Thielen and Teddy Masiak.
