Marsh Curry Pickett, Sr.,90, of Greenwood died at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood, MS. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Veteran's Memorial Monument adjacent to American Legion Hut Post 29 in Greenwood with Rev. Glen Seefeld and Rev. Brad Hodges officiating, with full Military Rites. Burial is in the Greenwood Odd Fellows Mausoleum.

As a child Mr.Pickett lived in Sidon, MS. He attended Greenwood Municipal Separate School system. Mr. Pickett enlisted in the Army reserves in Greenwood and he served when called into World War II, in the European Theatre. He was awarded the Bronze Star and was recently awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal presented by the Ambassador from France. After leaving the service he and his late brother-in-law, Jim Fortenberry, owned and operated Greenwood Frozen Food Company. He also was the personnel director of Medart Locker Plant.

For many years Mr. Pickett served the community as Veteran's Services Officer of Leflore County until his retirement. Mr. Pickett was a beloved member of First United Methodist Church and he was one of the founders of Pillow Academy.

Mr. Pickett is survived by his wife Jane Fortenberry Pickett of Greenwood and three children.
