Arthur Wittren, 83, of New Hartford, Iowa died very suddenly Wednesday afternoon, January 25, at his home in New Hartford. He was born on 27 September 1895, in Fairchild, Wisconsin, the son of August and Augusta (Jankowsky) Wittren. He attend school in Fairchild and later farmed in Wisconsin. On 8 March 1922 he was married to Bernice Miller in Altoona, Wisconsin. They lived and farmed in the Fairchild area until 1934 when they moved to Waterloo, Iowa, and he went to work for the John Deere Tractor Works. They moved to Cedar Falls in 1935. Bernice died in 1953. On 29 October 1955, Arthur was married in Cedar Falls to Clara Luck and they continued living in Cedar Falls until 1960 when Art retired from Deeres after 25 years and they moved to their present home in New Hartford.
He was a member of the New Hartford United Methodist Church and a member of U.A.W. Union Local #838 in Waterloo.
Art was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, one sister, and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; two sons, Richard Wittren of Cedar Falls, and Robert Wittren of San Leandro, California, and by two daughters, Betty, Mrs. John Mendes of Eugene, Oregon, and Patsy, Mrs. Edward Miller of Dike, Iowa. Also by one brother, Robert Wittren of Largo, Florida, and twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to return to the church following the graveside services for fellowship with the Wittren family.
