Cody Wyo. Jeannie D. Gawthrop, 89, died in the West Park County Nursing Home Monday evening.
She was born in Ellsworth, Iowa, the daughter of John and Jennie Digerness. Because she learned to operate a Linotype as a small child when she came to Cody in 1908, she worked for the Cody Enterprise. She married Charles Gawthrop in Cody in 1912; he died in Cody in 1968.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and belonged to the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Casper and Donald of Highland, Ind., a brother, Edward Digerness of Denver, Colo., and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Methodist Church in Cody with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.
