Four persons, including the daughter
of a Des Moines police officer, were
killed and several other persons injured
Friday night and Saturday in traffic
accidents in Iowa
Mary Ellen Good, 21, of 402* E.
Twenty-seventh St., died at Iowa Lutheran
Hospital Saturday afternoon, several
hours after she was injured in an
accident at Euclid and Delaware avenues
here, police said.
Authorities said Good, the daughter
of Des Moines police detective Dale
Good, was a passenger in an auto driven
by Wayne D. Johnston, 21, of 4046
Avenue Frederick M. Hubbell.
Police said the accident occurred
about 8 a.m., when Johnston attempted
to turn from Euclid Avenue onto Delaware
Avenue and collided with a car
driven by Linda June Holmes, 18, of
3017 E. Thirty-seventh St.
Johnston was thrown from the vehicle
by the impact of the crash, but
Good was pinned inside the car until
freed by fire rescue units.
Johnston was taken to University of
Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City where he
was listed in satisfactory condition Saturday
night. He was charged with failure
to yield the right of way and driving
without a valid license, police said.
Holmes was not injured in the accident.
