ROSSVILLE ? Wachel A. Land Jr., 65, departed this Thursday, July 17, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Ringgold, Ga., to the late Wachol Avory Land Sr., and Jessie Lee Rhodes Land, and was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Land; son, Robert Land; and wife, Margaret Land.

He worked for Candlewick Yarns for 24 years, and retired from Mohawk after six years. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include his children, David Land, of Lookout, Ga., Dale Williams, Charles Land and Gene land, all of Rossville, Becky Dixon, of East Ridge, and Amy Kendrick, of Rossville; sisters, Avory Whittamore, of Ellijay, Ga., Addie Lee Whitehead and Sheila Erwin, both of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, in the chapel with the Rev. Janice Inman and the Rev. Jim Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Family will receive friends all day today, and prior to the service Saturday.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
