Obituary, Jersey Journal, Friday, January 7, 1949, Page 15: Matthew Glass Dies in Fall. Matthew Glass, a former Jersey City resident, died Monday as a result of a fall at his uptown Manhattan residence where he plunged through a window when he slipped while putting up a storm window, relatives said. Glass, born in Russian Poland, resided in Jersey City 38 years until moving to New York several years ago. He lived at 178th Street, Manhattan. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Maynard, Mrs. Marie Gompay, Mrs. Emma Jones, Mrs. Eleanor Werner, Mrs. Dorothy DeCerbo, and Mrs. Roberta Sebastyn; three sons, George, Charles, and William Glass, and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Anna Glass (nee Sterrath).
