Sarah Elizabeth Kinney Lamp came with her family of two daughters, Lydia Ann and Huldah Amanda; four sons, John, W., (George) Emmett, Frank E., and Clinton I., to Guthrie County, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1875, from Cedar County, Iowa, near Tipton and Clarence. She settled just three miles south of Jamaica on 160 acres of land she had purchased earlier that summer.
Sarah E. Lamp died on September 10, 1904, in the home of her daughter, Huldah, whose farm was adjacent just east of the "Old Homestead."
