Jesse was the son of Rev. John K Evans,(1815-1899) and Catherine Bristow, (1820-1864). In 1856 he came with his parents to Bedford Co.

He served in the Civil War, 1861-1865, Co G, 4th Reg. MO, Sgt.SM, Union Occupation.,Cav.

In 1867, he married Miss Elizabeth Clara BRAY, who died in Jan. 1868, at the age of 19 years, 11 months.

On Oct 20, 1872, he married Miss Clarissa Jane "Clara" CREEK,(1854-1947) daughter of John and Mary Susan LEWIS Creek, (1836-1857).

Their children were: Baby girl, Allie D. Evans; Mary Evans; Harry Lee Evans; Ruth Evans Castor Denio; Phillip Patterson and Fredrich Wm. "Mike", both of Joplin, MO; Robert Moody, Iowa; John Lewis, Storm Lake, IA; LT.Edwin Van Meter Evans: KIA, Buried, France, WWI.

Mr. Evans was engaged in the grocery-produce business.
