Clayton B. Fedderson was born March 3, 1926, in Union County, South Dakota to parents James and Anna (Johnson) Fedderson. He died June 25, 2013 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Clayton was born and raised on the family farm south of Beresford. He attended Brule Grade School and Beresford High School graduating in 1944. Clayton joined the U.S. Army in May 1945 serving during the Occupation of Japan and was honorably discharged December 7, 1946. Clayton returned to the Beresford area and married DeVona Carlson on September 17, 1949. The couple resided on farms south of Beresford and north of Beresford until moving into Beresford July 2007. They were blessed with one daughter, Toots (Deb).
Clayton enjoyed farming, entertaining family and friends, playing cards, taking rides to check out the crops and watching the Minnesota Twins. In addition he and DeVona enjoyed traveling through the United States and Europe. They especially enjoyed traveling to the Twin Cities to see their grandson Ryan.
Clayton was a member of the United Church of Christ for many years where he served on several committees. Clayton served as a board member on the South Lincoln County Rural Water Board for 9 years. He also served as Commander of both the Beresford American Legion and VFW.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife DeVona in 2009, brother Kenneth, sisters Alta Peterson, Joyce Sommervold, and Delores in infancy.
Among those who survived and gratefully shared his life are his daughter, Debra DuBrall and husband Robert of Eagan, MN., grandson Ryan DuBrall of Savage, MN., sister Ardis Postin of Cheyenne, WY., many additional relatives, nieces and nephews.
We celebrate Clayton's passing knowing that he will be united with his beloved DeVona in heaven.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 28 at the Beresford United Church of Christ. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
