Jeanette A. Matthias

Jeanette A. Matthias, 83, a Sheboygan resident, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the Sheboygan Retirement and Reach Health Care Center, where she had resided for the past 30 days.

Born March 18, 1917 in Manitowoc, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alma Houghton Stanzel. She attended ad graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School and worked at Mirro Aluminum Goods Co.

On Sept. 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Merlin Matthias, and the couple red=sided in Tennessee, Cleveland, Wis., Sheboygan, Florida, and returned to Sheboygan in 1991. Jeanette was a former member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland.

Survivors are her husband Merlin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Hansen of Wausau, Patricia (Robert) Pearson of West Bend, and Mary (Henry) Gagliardi of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Sharon) Matthias and Michael (Terry) Matthias, both of Sheboygan; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine Stangel of Munising, Mich. Preceding Jeanette In death were her parents, one brother, Jerome and one son-in-law, Allen Hansen.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 26 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sheboygan. The Rev. Glenn Powers will be celebrant of the Mass and burial will be at St. George Cemetery, Cleveland.
