Funeral services for Mr. Stancer K. Whitaker will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Simms Wesleyan Church of Pollock with Reverend David Henry officiating. Burial will be in Pollock Cemetery.
Mr. Whitaker, 97, of Pollock, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in his residence.
During his working years, Mr. Whitaker worked for both the Shreveport Times and Journal for many years as well as other newspapers.
Mr. Whitaker was a member of the Pollock Masonic Lodge and a 32 Degree Mason. He attended Pollock United Methodist Church and Simms Wesleyan Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera J. Whitaker; his parents, Wesley W. and Laura Kelly Whitaker; ; his step daughter, Carolyn Jones Campbell
Survivors include his step son, Rev. James W. Jones of Jackson, LA and three step grandchildren, Jeffry L. Campbell of New York, New York, Linda Jones of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Roger M. Jones of New Orleans.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the Church.
The family expresses its deep gratitude to Mrs. Margie Martin for her devoted care of Mr. Whitaker, which enabled him to live his last years of his life at home.
