Esther Ann was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Lowe Groseclose.

On 24 Mar 1854, Johnson Co., IN, she married Kennerly Dobyns, b. Montgomery, VA, (son of Dangerfield >Samuel >Charles >Daniel).

About 1855, they and many of the Groseclose* family members moved to Story Co., IA, Union Twp., Cambridge, Iowa.

Esther:
In 1857, gave birth to John Jacob;
In 1859, gave birth to Elizabeth Catherine;
In 1862, gave birth to Ellen M.;
In 1864, gave birth to Thomas Jefferson;
In 1866, gave birth to Martha Elmira "Mattie"

Based on the 1860 census, Esther was home from 1855-1866 conceiving and birthing children; thus her time in the State Hospital at Mount Pleasant would have been between those times and after Oct 1866 - Nov 1871, after her passing.

In 1868, Oscar, was born to Kennerly and Mary Eliza Kelso.

In Oct 1871, Esther died at the age of 44 years and 7 days at Mt. Pleasant State Hospital, in Iowa.

In Jan 1872, Kennerly married Mary Eliza Kelso, the family's housekeeper, caregiver and mother of Oscar. About 1875 they moved to Tx, and Mary and Kennerly died on the same day of Yellow Fever, in 1888, Grayson Co., TX.

Many of his orphaned children left for the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, OK, to work on the cattle ranch of Willis Holmes.
