Attorney and Politician. He was a Rhodes scholar. He was a member of the Tennessee State House of Representatives (1921) and the Tennessee State Senate (1923). He was the Shelby County Attorney (1936-1941 and a Circuit judge for the state of Tennessee (1941-42). From 1942-48 he served as a Justice on the Tennessee State Supreme Court. He married Mary Louise Pennel on August 9, 1922.
