Elsie Martin, age 103, formerly of Beckley, WV, died peacefully October 27, 2020 at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus, OH, two weeks before her 104th birthday. She was known for her extraordinary musical talent. During her lifetime she served as pianist and organist at three churches: Crab Orchard Baptist, First Baptist, and Memorial Baptist, all in or near Beckley. She also was the principal pianist and organist for Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home for 35 years.

She was born on November 10, 1916 to the late George Anderson Bailey (1877–1921) and Anna Laura Basham-Bailey (1878–1952). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey A. Martin (1908-1972); a daughter, Peggy J. Martin-Plumley (1934-2019); her brother, Homer I. Bailey (1915–1990); her half sisters, Dessie Bailey-Price (1898–1928), Cora Bailey-Beck (1902–2007), and Fanny Bailey-Hollinger (1904–1981); and her half brother, Moses Lewis Bailey (1907–1977).

She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Martin-Brewster & husband David Brewster, and Shirley Martin-Keesee & husband William Keesee; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Because of the coronavirus a family service will be held at a later date.
