Alzora Eugene James-Mathias, longtime Basin resident passed away at home Saturday, March 12, 2005. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.

Alzora "Allie" was born March 19, 1925 in Pasco, Wash. to Herman and Emily Timm. They moved to Hartline, Wash. where her father operated the Timm Bros. Ranch. Allie graduated from Wilson Creek High School and afterwards married Eugene (Harry) James. They farmed in the Wilson Creek area until after his death in 1961. Allie then married Wayne G. Mathias and over the years they operated Polar Locker Meat Co. in Ephrata and Country Fresh Meats in Moses Lake. Allie and Wayne retired in Moses Lake where Allie continued to live following Wayne's death in 1991. Allie was living at the Hearthstone Retirement Center in Moses Lake until her death.

Allie was affectionately known as Grandma Allie by many. Her greatest joy seemed to come from the pride she held in her family. Allie stayed involved in her children's and grandchildren's busy lives and would boast of their diverse accomplishments to anyone who would listen. Equally proud of them all. She had a grand affection for her rose garden and wiling away the hours watching people come and go past her home. She had an open door policy and everyone was considered a welcome guest. Allie was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Harry James, husband Wayne G. Mathias, son Eugene T. James, and brothers Jack, Bill and Fred Timm.

Alzora is survived by son Eugene's former wife Karen James-Balfe and their children: Kevin and Kathy James (Tyler and Cooper,) Spokane, Wash.; Keith and Stephanie James (Benjamin,) Bothell, Wash., Jody James, Harrington, Wash.; George and Pauline James, Lincoln, Wash. children: Marc and Laura McGinnis (Ryan and Matt,) Carnation, Wash., Dr. Charles and Laura James (Carson and Kelsey,) Walla Walla, Wash., Ellen and John Jarbinen, Carnation, Wash., Elizabeth and Ricky Giberson (Anna and Jacob,) Issaquah, Wa; Russell and Patricia Winfrey, children: Timi, Nick, and Kali, Hartline, Wash.. Gregg and Penny Hunter, children: Zachary and Nathanael, Leesburg, Va.; Gilbert and Wendy Mathias, children: Adam and Elise, Moses Lake, Wash.; Byer and Sandra Mathias, children: Rory and Victoria, Sacramento, Ca; the families of Victoria Mathias, Debbie Mathias and Troy Mathias. Also survived by sister, Marie Middleton, sister-in-laws Vivian and Molly Timm, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, adopted family members and friends.
