Charlotte H. Dropp, 74, of Huntley, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital after a lengthy illness.Charlotte was born June 12, 1934, in Menomonee, Mich., the daughter of Lothar Ludwig Heinrich and Edna R. (Bartel) Sieker. She married Earle Dropp on Sept. 19, 1953, in Whitefish Bay, Wis. For 18 years she was a driver for Kammes Bus Co., where she was affectionately known as "Charlie." She was an artist, and taught art classes both at her home and later at her shop, "The Pretty Palette," in St. Charles. She enjoyed painting, card-making and rubber stamping. For the last 12 years she was the beloved Mrs. Claus in the St. Charles Christmas Parade. She is survived by her husband, Earle Dropp of Huntley; two daughters, Dianne Merten and her husband Stephen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Laurie Ann Quint and her husband John of Bemidji, Minn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and a sister, Naomi Franzmann of Baroda, Mich. Charlotte also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Sieker.
