Bud was born on January 20, 1924 to Willis Thompson and Lonie Edna Fink Thompson.
He was a WWII Veteran. He enjoyed playing bluegrass music with the Gospel Tones. He was retired from Westinghouse Electric.
Bud was predeceased by both parents and one sister, Alma Mae Thompson Foard.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel Mae McCall Thompson, children, Linda T. Smart and husband Sam, Ronald Thompson and wife Cheryl, Shirley T.Burleson and husband John and Kay T. Collins and husband Phil.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Erica Summerlin, Michael Smart and wife Lauren, Jessica Stevens and husband Clent, Laura Thompson, Stuart Collins and wife Joanna, Stephanie Collins and Kathryn Thompson, as well as great-grandchildren, Arlee and Emerson Stevens.
In addition Bud is survived by sisters, Margaret, Bernice and Ruby, all of Charlotte and a brother T of Lexington, NC.
