Rose Merenda Gustafson, 90, of Modesto, CA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Rose was born on November 29, 1922 to Luigi and Domenica Merenda in Modesto, CA. Rose met the love of her life Lloyd Gustafson and they were married in 1962.
Rose was a hairdresser for many years and owned her own beauty salon called Betty Rose Hair Fashions located in McHenry Village. She was an active parishioner at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, and loved her family very dearly. She enjoyed caring for her sisters Lucy Renna and Anna Ferrara.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Gustafson, her parents Luigi and Domenica Merenda, her brothers Jim Merenda and Joe Merenda, her sisters Anna Ferrara and Lucy Renna.
She leaves behind her niece Betty D'Accardo (Art), Palm Desert, Ann Varni, Modesto, Jim Ferrara (Joan), Modesto, and stepson Jerry Gustafson, Rockford. She also leaves behind many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin and Downs Funeral Homes. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 4 - 7 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Franklin and Downs Funeral Home 1050 McHenry Avenue Modesto, 95350. Interment is private.
