Deputy Davis had responded alone when he was shot in the head on the front porch of the house. Responding officers found him after neighbors heard the shots and called 911. The suspect was arrested when he surrendered after barricading himself in the home for 25 hours. He was charged with first degree murder of a police officer, and was sentenced to life in prison in November, 2002.
