PERCY, WILLIAM CONNER
A lifelong resident of Clinton and owner of Percy Agency Inc., he died Saturday, March 27, 2004. He was 79 and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Visiting Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Clinton, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visiting Monday, March 29, 2004, at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Alvin Hall, assisted by the Rev. David Tero. Burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Clinton. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jo C. Percy, Clinton; two daughters, Roxanne P. "Roxie" and husband Albert Rouchon, Madisonville, and Mary Elizabeth P. "Lissa" and husband David Gaffney, Prairieville; two sons, William Conner Jr. "Billy" and wife Darlene Helmers Percy, Lacombe, and Melville Roark "Mel" and wife Tori Taylor Percy, Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Jessica Thompson, Ethel, and Jennifer Hughes, Centreville, Miss.; a stepson, Troy and wife Theresa Gross, Ethel; 14 grandchildren, Taryn P. Terrell, Katie P. Bilello, Amanda R. Beter, Rachel Rouchon, Bridget Gaffney, Anna Gaffney, Jordan Percy, Amelia Percy, Ryan Delatte, Eric Wood, Chelsea Wood, Jared Thompson, Devin Hughes and Chase Hughes; and six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Maegan and Makena Terrell, Olivia and Brandon Bilello and Marigny Beter. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Peggy Dial Percy; parents, Robert Ryland and Katherine Roark Percy; a sister, Mary Eugenia P. White; and two brothers, Robert Ryland Percy Jr. and Edward Percy. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and LSU. He also served in the Louisiana Legislature. He was a deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Liberty, Miss., and a member of the American Legion and Olive Lodge 3. Friends desiring may make memorial donations to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
