"TERRY A. BARNETT"

On June 23, 1956, a request from Garnett Mae Smith Barnett was fulfilled with the birth of a baby boy to James Leonard Barnett and Shirley Ann Throckmorton Barnett at 6:06 p.m. Thus, the beginning of a thirty-one year special relationship had formed between a grandmother and a grandson.

Terry passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on July 2, 2013.

Arriving from the hospital to the family farm, Terry helped his father on the family farm, worked after school at the Campbell Auto Supply Inc., and graduated from Northmor Schools in 1974. Terry was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.

On October 11, 1975, Terry married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Joan Abraham. This union produced three children: two daughters, Tracy Michelle Barnett Miley (Bryan Miley) and Kelly Nichole Barnett (Chad Walter) and one son, Brandon Timothy Barnett (Jill Gladman). Extending forward grandchildren include two grandsons: Leviathon James Barnett (son of Brandon and Angela Broomfield) and Triston Alan Barnett (son of Brandon and Jill Gladman), a granddaughter: Sheldon Brooke Taylor (daughter of Kelly Barnett) and a step-granddaughter to be: Kilynn Marguarite Rose Walter (daughter of Chad Walter).

Terry was employed at the HPM Corporation from 1977 until that corporation declared bankruptcy in July 2001.

As a displaced industrial worker, Terry was re-trained at Marion Technical College, earning an Associate of Applied Science in Telecommunications Technology with a minor in accounting, graduating with honors in 2003. Terry also received the engineering excellence award for 2003 from Marion Technical College.

Terry became employed by the State of Ohio Department of Taxation as an agent in August 2003 until his retirement in 2013. During his employment with the State of Ohio, Terry earned a 2009 Bachelor of Science in Forensic Accounting degree with honors at Franklin University.

In addition to his parents, his children and grandchildren, Terry is survived by his childhood sweetheart and former wife, Elizabeth Joan Abraham Meads and his best friend Connie Wehrle. Terry was the oldest of four children and precedes his siblings Kathi Barnett Gorbett (Dan Gorbett) of Galion, Chris Barnett (Kelly Bennett Barnett) of Sparta and Scott Barnett (Erin Smith Barnett) of Upper Sandusky. He was also a special nephew of Sharon and Dennis Shipman of Mt. Gilead.

Grandparents Alton and Garnett Barnett of Mt. Gilead and Kenneth and Genevieve Throckmorton of Sparta preceded him in death.

The Barnett family will greet friends and family from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Snyder Chapel, 76 S. Main Street, Mt. Gilead. Services honoring his life will be held at the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, 7197 County Road 46, Mt. Gilead, on Tuesday July 9, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Linn presiding. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery in Mt. Gilead.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
