Thanks to contributor baddadhardin (47638312) [[email protected]] for the following additional information on the family of Rev. Valentine Bowers (113284843):
Rev. Valentine B. BOWERS was born one of at least 12 children to Leonard BOWERS and Rebecca NAVE who were among the first settlers of Carter County. He married Abigail BUCK 8 Oct. 1808 in Carter Co. They lived in the Siam Community of Carter County and had at least 12 children. His grave is marked by the largest tombstone, in the center of his family cemetery, according to the Bowers Cemetery (Carriage Hill Road) Index at http://files.usgwarchives.net/tn/carter/cemeteries/bowers.txt (Tennessee Tombstone Transcription Project --- USGenWeb Archives). Below his stone are two small "native stones," one of which is probably Abigail's tombstone. Other children who are not listed below because I do not know their burial places are:
*** Rev. Henry Nave BOWERS (1814-1866) of Newton, MO
*** Elizabeth BOWERS STOUT (1817-1880) of Carter, TN
*** Rev. Jonathan Buck BOWERS (1820-1854) of Jackson, MO
*** Lavisa BOWERS PAXTON (1826-Unk) of Washington, MO
*** William Christly BOWERS (1827-1880) of Carter, TN
*** Mary Lincoln BOWERS TREADWAY (1835-1859) of Tennessee
*** Joseph Powell BOWERS (1838-1863) of Tennessee
