William Wilford Crouch, b February 27, 1827 in Tennessee, d February 12, 1878 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas- was a son of Reverend-Doctor Isaac Newton and Isabelle (Deason Dyson) Crouch who married in Tennessee. William was nine years old when his father was killed by Indians at Little River in present day Milam County, and only thirteen at the time of his mother's death.

In 1843, William W. Crouch moved with his siblings to Wheelock, Robertson County, Texas, where Fort Dunn was located. In 1845, he and his half brother, Alonzo Crouch, and his brother, Isaac Newton Crouch, where Wilham and Isaac, Jr. remained the rest of their lives, It is not known what happened to the half brother, Alonzo Crouch

On April 27, 1849, William Wilford Crouch. was married to Mary Jane Covington, b December 11, 1833 In Tennessee - a daughter of John H. and Jane (Marlin) Covington, formerly of Tennessee who settled in Texas in 1845.

William farmed in the Reagan area, where he reared his family. Six of their seven children lived to adulthood:
