John F. Carey age 66 of Carterville, Mo. passed away Friday June 28, 2013 at his residence surround by friends and family.

John was born December 3, 1946 to Jack and Reva C. Needham Carey in Grove, Ok.

John was employed by Eagle-Picher for 42 years, retiring in 2010. He attended Forest Park Baptist Church, Carthage, Mo.

He married Margie Gray in Joplin, Mo. and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Marla Reed, and husband David, Carterville, Mo., 1 step son, Casey Scroggins, Joplin, Mo., two step daughters Shelley Scroggins, and Staci Bond, both of Carterville, Mo., five grandchildren, Cody Jones, Chelsea Jones, Dylan Scroggins, Kaylea Liska, Shane Gallimore, one great grandchild, Mya Grace, two brothers Gale Carey and wife Krista, Joplin, Mo., Mark Carey and wife Michelle, Alba, Mo. and one sister, Linda Erwin and husband Rick, Nixa, Mo.

"To all my nephews and angel girl, Mya Grace, I love you."

He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Armina Stout, two brothers Jack and Frank Carey, and one step son Scott Scroggins.

"I left this world after a three year and three month fight against this cancer I got. I feel very blessed to have survived this long, with my family and friends." "I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Freeman Cancer Center. The nurses are fantastic, they are all my favorites."

"To my best friends Gary and Ella, we go back a long way. To all my Eagle Picher friends, I love you all, and we had some good times." "See you starside."

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday July 3, 2013 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel, with Steve Mertens, minister officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Mo. The family will receive friends Tuesday July 2, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
