Deceased Name: Carroll, Charles R. 91
Charles R. Carroll, 91, of Connellsville, passed away at his home with his family at his bedside on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Charles was born June 14, 1920, in Grindstone, a son of Charles A. and Elizabeth Freeman Carroll. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, John and Harvey; and a sister, Hilda. Charles was married to Charlotte Lohr Carroll. He is survived by his wife and his children. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Charles served in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations during World War II as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps. Honorably discharged as a corporal in 1945, Charles was a member of VFW Post 21 of Connellsville. Charles was employed by Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. After retirement, he was a security guard with Burns Security. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Connellsville. Friends were received from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Monday, the hour of services, in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, with the Rev. Raymond Hill officiating. Interment followed in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Military honors were accorded by the Connellsville American Legion and VFW and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.
