A native of Seattle, he graduated in 1939 with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington. He served in the Naval Air Corps during World War II and after the war, he worked for Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging. In 1954, he formed Reese Construction and built apartment buildings, motels and hotels. He was best known for The Century House (now the Quality Inn), a motor hotel built for the Seattle World's Fair and for the University Inn Motor Hotel. Retiring in 1971, he was a consultant for Paschen Construction Co. which built the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Fraternity, Seattle Master Builders and the Apartment Association of Seattle and King County. He died on October 31, 1996 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 79 years. Survivors included his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Parks Reese; three daughters of Edmonds, Seattle and Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren; one sister of Mercer Island and one brother of Vancouver, Washington. A memorial service was held at the Florence Henry Chapel in The Highlands with a reception at the Seattle Golf Club. Interment was at Lake View Cemetery. Remembrances were suggested to the Saint Nicholas/Lakeside School Annual Fund or the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
