Alice Anderson Brown (nee Kleckner), 76, of Portage, passed away on Monday, December 6, 1999 at Porter Memorial Hospital. She was born, May 8, 1923 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of William and Bertha Kleckner. A Portage resident for 36 years, she was married on December 15, 1984 in Portage to Wesley E. Brown and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1988. She was a member of American Legion Post 279 of Miller, a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5365 in Hobart and the Steel City V.F.W. Post 909 where she worked in the kitchen and did volunteer work for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Terry (Patricia) Dykhuis of South Haven, Gerry and Ronnie Hanaway; three grandchildren, Laurie Patterson of Alabama, Lisa (Christopher) Spencer of South Haven and Patrick Enocksen of Fort Benning, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Mark Patterson and Christopher Spencer, both of South Haven; one brother, William Kleckner; three sisters, Elizabeth of Milwaukee, Mary Jane Caesar of New Chicago and Martha King of Wheeler; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wesley, and several brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 9, 1999 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service being held Friday, December 10, 1999 at 10:30 a.m., at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368, with Rev.
