He was born February 11, 1923, at Chamois, son of Frederick Trachsel and wife Anna, nee Lieneke.
On October 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Edna Hartwig at Chamois.
Mr. Trachsel was employed by the Defense Mapping Agency.
In 1976, he was awarded the Outstanding Personnel of the Year Award. In 1982, he received the Meritorious Civilian
Service Award, and in 1984, he was honored with the Exceptional Civilian Service Award.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Lester Trachsel.
He is survived by his wife Edna Trachsel; one son, Steve Trachsel and wife Carol, Montgomery City; one daughter, Anne Jordan and husband Tim, Chesterfield; four brothers, Martin Trachsel and wife Erelene, New Haven, Edwin Trachsel and wife Wilma, Chamois, Ernest Trachsel and wife Willemina, Jefferson City, and Fred Trachsel and wife Alice, O’Fallon’three sisters, Martha Dressel, Camden, Arkansas, Rosella Schroer and husband Carl, Tucson, Arizona, and Hilda Leonard and husband Burnell, St.Louis; five grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 10, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Washington, with Rev. William Schwab officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials to St. Peter’s Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation are preferred.
