Mrs. Droege was born July 6, 1915, in Hermann, the daughter of Otto Voelkerding and wife Ida, nee Barlage.
She was united in marriage June 5, 1940, at St. George Church, Hermann, to John J. Droege.
Mrs. Droege was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Hummingbird Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John "Jack" Droege, on April 18, 1990; three brothers, Sylvester Voelkerding, Frank Voelkerding and Edward Voelkerding; four sisters, Bernice Meade, Ermalind Faes, Henriette "Hank" Monzyk and Mary Frances Voelkerding.
She is survived by one son, John "Butch" Droege and wife Judy, Washington; one sister, Virginia Stallmann and husband Arthur, Washington; three grandchildren, Chris Droege and wife Nan Holmes, Boise, Idaho, Geralyn Heisler and husband Terrence, and Lisa Bell and husband Kyle, all of Washington; five great-grandchildren, Kim and Jake Heisler, Abigail and Alyson Bell and Jewelia Droege; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington, with the Rev. Jack Costello and the Rev. Mike Boehm officiating. Monsignor Ted Wojcicki, Monsignor Mike Turek and Deacon Gilbert Holtmeyer assisted.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials to St. Francis Borgia Grade School or Brothers of St. Joseph are preferred.
