Elvira Mary "Vera" Elbert, nee Nowak, 83, Washington, died Friday, January 7, 2000, at Cedarcrest Manor, Washington.
Mrs. Elbert, daughter of the late Joseph P. Nowak and wife Emily E., nee, Alfermann, was born October 30, 1916, at Clover Bottom. She attended the St. Ann School at Clover Bottom. On June 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to Urban Elbert at St. Ann Church at Clover Bottom. Mrs. Elbert was a member of St. Francis Borgia Parish, the Ladies Sodality and the W.C.U. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Urban Elbert, June 24,1971; two sons, Kieth and Elmer Elbert; and by two brothers, Julian and Oliver Nowak. Among her survivors are four sons, Kenneth Elbert and wife Marge, Pershing, Donald Elbert and wife Rosemary, Ronald Elbert and wife Carol, and Alan Elbert and wife Marcella Gay, all of Washington; four daughters, Sylvia Tyler and husband Eugene ,Union, Joyce L. Mentz, Marthasville, Elaine Thurman and husband Rick, St. Clair, and Valerie Hernandez and husband Thomas, Washington; one brother, Edmund Nowak, Washington; four sisters, Lorraine Elbert, Washington, Leona Gratza, Peers, Rosalie Bargen and Patricia Lause, both of Washington; 30 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday,January 10, at St. Francis Borgia Church with Rev. Jack Costello officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
