Donald F. Hillermann, 76, Washington, died Feb 28, 2001.
He was born June 7, 1924, at Washington, the son of Bernie E. Hillermann and wife Margaret, nee Schroeder.
He received his education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School.
Her served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
On July 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marie McDonald at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington.
Mr. Hillermann founded Hillermann Nursery and Florist in April 1951.
He served as president of the Midwest Nursery Association for ten years.
He also was active in the Missouri Nurserymen's Association and the American Nurseryman's Association.
He retired from the company in 1986.
In 1990, he was appointed to the Washington Park Commission, and currently was serving as grounds chairman.
Mr. Hillermann also was a longtime member of the Washington Knights of Columbus. A fourth-degree knight, he served on the organization's board, was past board president and chairman of the fish fries.
He was also a member of the Josephites, the Lions Club, VFW, American Legion and other civic groups.
Additionally, he was a tour guide with Mid-American coaches.
Mr. Hillermann was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Halmich.
He is served by his wife, Marie Hillermann of Washington; one son, Gary HIllermann and wife Linda of Green Bay, WI; two daughters, Debbie Jaeger and husband Roger and Joyce Jones and husband Dennis, all of Washington; one brother, Bernie Hillermann and wife Dottie of Washington; three sisters, Theola Holdmeyer and husband Robert, Bernadette Kriete and husband Leo, and Doris Boland and husband Richard, all of Washington; 11 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held March 3, at St, Francis Borgis Church, Washington, with interment in the church cemetery.
