Rahn, associate professor of education at Bradley and later professor and head of the Department of Secondary Education from 1954-69, was born Jan. 14, 1897, in Lanark.
He was a son of John and Laura Schaffer Rahn. He married Dr. Alta Thompson, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Dr. Gordon Rahn of Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Dr. Sheldon Rahn of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; one step-son, Tom Rahn, of Peoria; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dr. Rahn, who moved to Peoria from Ithaca, N.Y. in 1954, was a farmer near Lanark for 10 years. He taught in Marion, Iowa, before becoming Superintendent of Schools at Lisbon, Iowa, from 1933-42.
He was assistant professor of Natural Sciences at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1942-43 and associate professor of mathematics and electrical engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., from 1943-46.
He received his doctorate in education from Cornell University in 1950.
Dr. Rahn taught full-time at Bradley until 1962, when he retired. He then taught part-time there for five more years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Frank Funeral Home in Lanark.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery.
