Betty Louise Ingham White
Betty Louise Ingham White, born July 14, 1928, died in Carrollton, Texas, on January 28, 2013. A native of Pensacola, she graduated from Pensacola High School in 1944, and went on to graduate from Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, and the University of Georgia. After graduation, she returned to Pensacola where she worked as a teacher at P.K. Younge Elementary School, and as a secretary to Charles Woodbury, founder of Five Flags Bank.
In 1953, Betty married Ensign Jim White of Kimball, Nebraska. His 28-year Navy career took them to duty stations across the United States and Asia. Betty was the quintessential Navy wife raising three children and becoming an expert at moving the household while Jim was deployed. An avid bowler, Betty joined every league at every Navy base from Hawaii to Japan, from California to Florida. After Jim's retirement in 1977, they built their dream home in Grande Lagoon. Betty became active with the West Florida Genealogy Society, which lead to her becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband, her parents William and Annie, and her infant brothers Billy and Jimmy preceded Betty in death. Her survivors include her son James, daughter-in-law Katharine, her daughters Niesa Page and Amy White, four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Burial will be Monday, July 15, at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:15.
