Frances was born April 22, 1920, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, one of seven children. After graduating from Emmanuel College in 1941, she began her adventures in Europe working for the U.S. State Department before meeting her future husband, the late Eugene Julius Epstine of Hebron, Connecticut, a World War II veteran and businessman. The couple lived abroad in England, Germany, Holland, and Switzerland with their three adoring daughters. Frances and Eugene settled in Osterville in 1987.
Frances was the loving mother of Katherine and her husband Attorney Mark Johnson of Andover, Deborah E. Holland of New York City, and Patricia and her husband Lt. Col. (ret.) Brent Diefenbach of Fairfax Station, Virginia. She was the beloved grandmother of Katherine and Eugene of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Danielle of Washington, DC, and Nathan of Andover, Massachusetts. Frances is also survived by a brother, Dr. Ralph Murphy of Naples, Florida, and sister, Mrs. Eileen Roberts of Kerrville, Texas.
A visitation will be held for Frances at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd.(Route28) Marstons Mills on Tuesday, July 9 from 9 to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville at 11 AM. Interment to follow in Saint Frances Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
