Carl W. "Turtle" Elicker II, of Orrtanna, departed this life for eternal rest July 11 in Clearfield.

He was a son of Carl W. and June Leib Elicker of New Oxford.

"Turtle" was a 1978 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He was employed by PENNDOT in Gettysburg as an Operator Instructor and was also a member of the Adams County Fish and Game Association and the Mummasburg Athletic Association. Turtle trained employees in Adams County and at the two PENNDOT training sites.

The day of his passing, he was in Clearfield to train employees on the gradall when he suffered a massive heart attack. He hadn't been feeling quite right before he left and was planning on going to the doctor when he got back.

He is missed by all as he was a kind, goodhearted man who loved his family and his job.

He was the husband of Tina Pecher Elicker and surviving, in addition to her and also his parents, are one son, Michael A. Elicker of Orrtanna; six sisters, Susan E. Cromer of Glenville, Carol P. Wilson of Hanover, Ronna J. Farley of Spring Grove, Karen L. Rambo of Pequea, Lisa A. Elicker of Gardners, and Kelly L. Elicker of Bendersville; three brothers, Stephen E. Elicker of Hanover, Jamie A. MacAvoy of Coopersburg, and Jody A. MacAvoy of New Oxford, and a number of nieces and nephews.
