Mrs. Lucy Estella Pennel-Excell-Anderson of Los Altos, a long-time active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mountain View, died Sunday in El Camino Hospital in Mountain View after a short illness. She was 78. Mrs. Anderson was bom in Elk Point, S.D., but had lived in Mountain View and Los Altos since 1935.

She was the wife of Archie Anderson of Los Altos. She is also survived by a son, Donald Excell of Livermore, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Redlands; two stepsons, Merlin Anderson of Lincoln, and Russell Anderson of Redfield, S.D.; three brothers, David Pennel of Coming, Emory Pennel of Orland, and Cyril Pennel of Los Altos; a sister, Mrs. Harriet Brown of Columbia, S.C.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1425 Springer Road, Mountain View. J. L. Tucker, speaker on the "Quiet Hour" radio show, will officiate. Interment will be at Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto.

Roller & Hapgood & Tinney funeral home, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, is in charge of arrangements.
