Samuel O. Back, 51, formerly of this county, died last Saturday at his home in Lima, Ohio, following a short illness.
A native of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Mr. Back was born Nov. 20, 1903, the son of the late John P. and Georgia Polly Back. He married Mattie V. Griffin in Oneida, Tenn., Aug. 23, 1926, and seven children were born to this union.
Mr. Back spent many years in this county before moving to Lima in 1943. He was employed as a truck driver in that city.
Mr. Back is survived by his former wife, Mattie Back Flynn, one daughter, Mrs. Nathalia Baugh, New Castle, Ind; five sons, Frederick Landis Back, Knoxville, Tenn., Larry Dale Back, New Castle, Ind.; Billy Roland Back, Amhurst, Ohio, Jerry Neil Back, Quinton, Ky., and Jackie Randolph Back, Chicago, Ill.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hettie Hale, Highland, Ky. and Mrs. Susan Maggard, Whitesburg; one brother, Ivol Back, Whitesburg, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of the Ward-Farris Funeral Home. The Rev L.D. Fisher conducted the services.
Burial was in the Eubank Cemetery.
