Born abt. 1839, son of Aaron Burr and Hannah (Green) Caswell.

Enlisted as a PVT in Co C 26 MI Inf at White River, Michigan on September 15, 1862. Promoted to Full CORPL on May 1, 1865. Mustered out at Alexandria, Virginia on June 4, 1865.

Lived in Ludington, Michigan in 1900-1904 where he was a plumber and steam/gas fitter. By 1910 he was living in Escondido, San Diego County, California and was a rancher.
