Michael Field Vanderbilt, the 6th of 11 children born to Jacob Johnse Johannes Vanderbilt (1757-1812) and Anne Cornelis Covenhoven aka Conover (1757-1843).
Michael married Jane Berkaw (1796-1875) on 18 March 1814 in Lyons, Wayne County, New York and had 4 children:
(1) Mary Vanderbilt (1816-?)
(2) John Henry Vanderbilt (1818-1889);my friend Mary's 2d g-grandfather.
(3) Margaret H. Vanderbilt Humphrey (1822-1890); and
(4) Michael Vanderbilt (1827-1875).
