Oscar E. Newman , a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Henry County, died May 27, 1969 in Kewanee Public Hospital where he had been a patient for the last two weeks.

Mr. Newman was born in Lynn Center, the son of Swan Peter and Lena Caroline (Benson) Newman. He married Florence Byers on February 18, 1920 in Cambridge.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Lawrence of Orion, and Wilbur of Cambridge; daughter Lorraine Gilmore (Robert), Garden Grove, CA; nine grandchildren; three brothers, John of Moline, Fred of Osco, William of Fullerton, ND; and a sister, Lillia Mae Anderson (Seth) of Cambridge.

Memorials may be made to Clover Chapel United Methodist Church.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 1969 at Stackhouse Funeral Home in Cambridge, IL, with the Rev. R. James Weiss of United Methodist Church, Augusta, presiding.

Organ selections were played by Mrs. Wesley Churling.
Pall bearers were Oscar's nephews; Howard Newman, Eldon Newman, Milton Newman, Albert Larson, Quenton Larson, and Robert Anderson.

Burial is in Rosedale Cemetery.
