Henry D. Gammons, 67, of 214 Rose Street, Lafayette, Tennessee, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at Macon County General Hospital. He was born Tuesday, August 2, 1932, in Macon County, Tennessee, a son of the late Jessie Gammons and Selma Claiborne Gammons, and was a retired highway construction employee of the Rogers Group. Survivors include his wife, Vera Deering, of Hartsville, Tennessee; three step daughters and two step sons in law; Beverly and Chuck Ketchel, Hendersonville, Tennessee; Glennon and Jimmy Scott, Gallatin, Tennessee; and Carolyn Armstrong, Centerville, Tennessee; one step son; Steve Deering, Lafayette, Tennessee; three sisters; Ruby Jo Fater, California; Betty Sircy, Lafayette, Tennessee; Mary Elizabeth Lewis, Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Gammons, Lafayette, Tennessee; and five grandchildren, including Jordan Thuesen, Lynn Robertson, and Chris Jones. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2000 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel, Lafayette, Tennessee with Eld. Barry Miller officiating. Burial will be in Drury Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Ketchel, Jerry Claiborne, Jimmy Scott, Chris Jones, Olie Harper, and Lewis Warner. Visitation will be after 11a.m. Thursday at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home. Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.
