FORT VALLEY [Peach Co.]—William Carlton "Bill" Alford, 77, died Friday, October 28, 2005. Services will be 2P.M., Sunday, October 30, 2005 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.... Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Rome to the late Charles Job and Nell Murphy Alford, Mr. Alford was an educator with Peach County Public Schools for 42 years and had served on the Peach County Board of Education. An Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member and served on the vestry of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Mr. Alford had served as former chairman of the Peach County Board of Commissioners, was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peach Area Child Care Center, served on the Board of Thomas Public Library, and was the former chairman of the Peach County Republican Party.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Latrelle Giles Alford of Fort Valley; daughter, Cynthia Alford of Atlanta; sister, Virginia Bips of Newnan....

Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley has charge of arrangements.
